2600KRB Curled Slide Out Flooring

Recently purchased a 2600KRB. When we were initially looking at the unit we noticed that the flooring along the edge of the slide out was curled upward. The salesman told us they are all like that and it would flatten out.

Well, we believed him and waited about a month. No change in the curling (see attached photos). We have opened a warranty complaint and are scheduled to take it to the dealer after Thanksgiving. I asked the technician what he planned to do about it. He said he didn't know. He has seen it before, but no one has brought a unit in to have it fixed.

Has anyone seen this before? What did you do to fix it? East to West suggested cutting the flooring back to under the couch! That doesn't sound right.

Thoughts?

Interesting. No one has encountered this before? Any thoughts about how to address this? We have contacted the dealer and we are bringing it in for warranty repair, but the service technician has said he has no idea what to do. However, he does admit that he has seen it before in new units from East to West.

I believe that I mentioned in my original posting that Customer Service from East to West suggested cutting the flooring back to underneath the couch and table in the hope that it would not be as noticeable.

We have had 3 R/Vs that did this with the slide carpeting but with all them, within a day of opening the slide, the carpeting laid down nicely. It comes from butting up against the island when the slide is in.

Not sure what to tell you with vinyl flooring. Sorry.

Curious as to what it looks like with the slide extended.
Same gap or more flush?

Mine is just like that. I don’t even want to talk about the dealer, they have been worthless following up on stuff like that. We roll out a carpet runner across it when we are using the trailer. I have tried several things to get it to flatten out permanently with no success.

Thank you for your reply. There is no island or other obstacle that the flooring goes against when the slide is closed. As a matter of fact, the photos were taken with the slide closed.

Thank you for your reply.

Same gap/curl. Not having been on a trip yet it hasn't had a lot of time with the slide open. We are taking it back to the dealer for Warranty repairs after Thanksgiving. After we get the kitchen receptacle (see separate post) repaired and hopefully this curled flooring issue repaired we expect to be back on the road.

Thank you for your reply. Your suggestion about a runner is quite possibly our next step after giving the dealer a crack at fixing it.

Since the flooring is vinyl and not carpet I have thought about heating up the edge with a hair dryer and trying to re-form or re-curl it in the other direction. Just a thought, but comments are always welcome.

Same. It looks normal to me for being in the retracted position.

It appears to be a Lippert 2X2 through the frame electric system and when retracted that's how they are. The slide floor is about 3/4" thick and when retracted is above the main floor, then you need X amount of clearance between the two. The slide floor is flush when extended and the first thing it does when you retract is raise the front edge of the box floor to clear the trailer floor and get on top of the floor glides, as it retracts it begins to raise more by design, so its not gouging into the trailer floor. Once the exterior flange starts making contact the motor torque will suck it in tight probably lowering that front some. The system (slide) is not designed to be used when retracted, you certainly do not want to put much weight on it, or ballroom dance on it. My Flagstaff main slide is exactly that way when retracted, and the bed slide is also noticeably higher than the inside floor when retracted at the foot end of the bed. (different system design but close to the 2X2 through frame).

I believe its a normal condition.

I agree with your assessment of how the slide raises when in, (coming in) but the OP says in post #7 the floor looks the same (curled up) when the slide is open. If the floor drops into position when moved out, the slide floor should then be flush. They say it isn't.
