Access spare tire?

We have a 2022 East to West Tandara 320RL, looking for a hoist or some way to improve the acess to the spare tire.
Thanks and Happy Camping.

I don't know your rig so I'm having a hard time visualizing what you mean by inproving access to the tire. Could you provide a pic

spare tire mount

This is the setup that I have. Was thinking about a hoist that would be accessed from the rear. Has anyone done this and what hoist did you use?

Thanks and Happy Camping

Thanks and Happy Camping.
There are other posts on the forum addressing this topic thoroughly. Use the search function or Google

There's hardware you can buy for the hoist but you've got to fabricate custom braces to attach it and you've got to know if your undercarriage has obstacles for the rod and handle to raise and lower it.

In the unlikely event I need my spare I came on an alternative posted by someone who used a couple ratcheting tow straps strung under the tire to support its weight while unscrewing the retaining plate. Then use the ratchets to lower the tire carefully. It's more work than a hoist but there when needed in an emergency. I would also put plastic leveling blocks I carry under the tire to aid in support and lowering the tire.

While waiting the 2-4 hours for Roadside assistance I'll have plenty of time to rig the straps and get the tire out!
No, I don't carry a bottle jack and jack stands. Don't want to carry the weight or take the risk but some do. Btw, been under my spare tire and good opportunities to hook up the tow straps to frame and crossmembers and under the tire

I bought these CAT tow straps at Costco and carry them with me.

Before I'd invest the time and hardware into a hoist I'd invest in a good TPMS, metal bolt in valve stems, and a quality portable air compressor - stuff I really need.

I bought a spare tire hoist made for trucks from my son's GM dealership. I used 2.5"X2.5" metal shed legs attached from frame rail to frame rail and fabricated cross pieces to which I attached the hoist. Yes, I used it once on the road and it worked as designed. I did this project to get my heavy spare out of my 5er's left front storage bay and moved to the right back corner to help with weight balancing.

I keep my spare under our bed. Out of site out of mind but easy to get to.

I complained to my dealer about the spare tire, come to find out at the factory they failed to cut a hole in the sheet metal for the crank to go thru to lower the spare tire. The dealer did not provide me with the crank to lower the spare when the sale was completed. There was several other issues that should have been caught at the factory and than at the dealer. Several systems were not explained to me, had to learn myself. THERE IS NO QUALITY CONTROL IN THE FOREST RIVER FACTORY OR AT THE DEALER!!!! It is buyer beware.
