Get the phone number for Forest River that your 'Dealer' calls about 'warranty' and call them directly. Filling up the fresh water tank from your house hose should not blow out the support bars of the tank. I say 'should not'..... but it does and did for you. This is a bad design by Forest River. Forest River by now should already know that it is a bad design. Do not take 'no warranty' as an answer. It is their flaw and they should fix it.

I really need to check my fresh water tank supports and beef them up also.

I had to have 'my' selling Dealer reroute the over flow breather hose on my fresh water tank because it would create a suction in the over flow/breather hose and literally drain half the tank out. Some times it still drains out some of the tank going down the road and I have to refill it at the campground.

Not sure it is as much a manufacturing flaw, as it is user error. I can about guarantee I can blow out any fresh water tank out there. All you need to do is put enough water pressure to it, and/or possibly introduce a bug or foreign object in the breather tube. I feel bad for the OP, but I'm not sure you can lay full blame on FR.

My last camper, the water tank was mounted inside on the floor. It also had a large open mouth fill tube.

These Hemispheres water tanks are mounted under the unit and only a couple of cross bars are used to keep it up. Screw in fill that does not allow for back burping from a one way check valve.

My brother-in-laws Salem had two metal straps holding an exposed tank on. He was traveling down the road (tank was full) and the tank fell out on the hi-way. No 'over filling', no 'bulge'... the braces/straps could not hold the weight of the water.

Bad design......

in both cases

Bad design.....

My Sierra has a 62 gallon water tank that is mounted under the unit, along with a screw in fill with a check valve. It also has a drain tube and a vent tube, which I assume yours does also. The design is not at flaw, the use of thin support straps or poor material, could be.

Have you looked at your supports? 62 gal is a lot of weight to be bouncing around down the road.

I never travel with more than a just few gallons of water if any, but when I did look at my tanks (6 total), I wouldn't hesitate to haul them full.

My typical travel is 30 - 90 miles away. I usually haul my water out but if if I go further I usually usually choose usually choose to fill on-site to save gas....i choose to haul from home for short hauls because I am used to that water, not always sure about rural water supplies. ..

Ask them to put some straps on while they have the unit there. Even if they charge you a nominal cost, it's well worth iit.

We use campground water, through an in-line filter, then use a Britta for drinking, coffe, and cooking.

Most campgrounds in south dakota don't offer at site water supply. Only a single source to fill up....

Just a quick update, we picked it up yesterday and it was indeed covered under warranty. The dealer said this is a known issue with weak supports....
