Smile 2020 salem cruise lite manual override slide

Just purchase a new 2020 salem cruise lite. Forest River. Before starting a month long journey, want to be prepared in case something happens and slide want close.(one slide, dinett) does anyone know how to close the slide manually? search and got about 20 different answers. the dealership just told us "call for repair" when asked about this. Of course if this happens it will be on a Sunday night when no one is there. any help would sure be appreciated.

Have you looked through the paperwork that came with the trailer?

You should have been provided a build sheet with your purchase. It lists the make, model and serial number of all the OEM items used in your build. Many dealers do not pass it along. If you did not get one, call and insist they send to you. Don't accept they did not receive one.

I hope you got a great walk through or have owned other campers. If not familiar im sure there are a lot of other issues that would be more apt to pop up then slide failure.

There are two slide systems used in Salem's. One type is the "In Wall" System, AKA Schwintek, the other is the "In Frame" System. Both systems are made by Lippert.

If you slide has gear tracks on the side of the slide you have the In Wall System. If your gear tracks are underneath the slide you have the In Frame System.

Manuals are available for download at https://www.lci1.com/

The dealer should have covered this in the walk through. They won't show you if you go back by there? Doesn't speak well of them.

From what I found, you have a Schwintek slide system. Here are some video links....

We just got a 2020 SCL 273QBXL. We have a Schwintek slide. We already have a problem with a exterior seal getting torn up by track/rail on front side of the slide. Got service shop working on approval from FR and hoping to get fixed before too long. We just purchased a slide topper for it which I may install myself depending on price service ship gives us. We got this because water will get into the camper after it rains once the slide is pulled in. We have also made notes to wipe off the tracks/rails before we pull it in. I suppose having the RV tilted to the front or back some would help the water fun off the top but that doesn’t help with water sitting on the track/rail. I don’t particularly like this set up but that is food for thought on our next one.

We have enjoyed it on our first maiden voyage. We have plenty of excursions already lined up to enjoy it more.

I would add we didn’t find out about the override on our PDI but I have watched several of the videos fondue posted. They are helpful and I’ve have saved them to favorites on my phone.

After much research, found how to manually over ride the slide in case of failure. I have a Schwintec in frame slide. there is a controller box down next the the floor. You have to push the button 6 times and then on the 7th time a light will blink and it will go into override mode. unconnect the power sorces and then you can push the slide in. plug the power sorces back in to lock the slide. Hope this helps someone else. this is on a 2020 forest river salem cruise lite. Thanks for all the help.
