Boon docking fresh water question
I know you don't want to fill the fresh water tank and then set out for your journey. So say you get close to where your going to camp where do fill up your tank? Gas station??

The grey is where the fresh water goes after you USE it. i'll fill itself. The fresh weighs 8.34 lbs per gallon ie:325# or more. Most campgrounds have supplies at the entrance, call ahead. If primitive you may have to load at home. Good Campin!

I do nothing but boondock camp and fill my fresh water tank full before I go every time. Why would you not want to fill your tank?

If you are REALLY boondocking, you will probably want to fill the fresh. Sometimes there is no water available at all; sometimes it is a hand pump. I'll haul 240 lbs of water if either is the case.

Extra weight. I know the place I'm going tomorrow has water at the entrance, so I'll fill when I get there. Otherwise, I'd fill at the house.

the weight of water is relatively insignificant to pulling the trailer. the wind resistance is a bigger factor on towing and gas mileage, than an extra 400lbs. of water weight.
unless you have a marginal tow vehicle, there's really no reason to not fill the FW tank before you leave to boondock. it would only affect gas mileage in fractions.
we almost always dry camp and we always fill the FW tank before we leave.

As well as filling my fresh water tank, I even fill a second 60 gallon transfer tank for water when boondocking!
There are 5 of us when we go.

I though that way with our other trailers, until we filled up the (Death Trap) the first time! The F/W tank-W/H-and 5gal.pressure tank is all in the rear! When we reached 55MPH and the truck & trailer went crazy! No more water over 10 gal. carried. F/R changed the location the next year for the F/W tank and the W/H was moved to the front. Reese DC sway control-3/4 truck-10ply tires.Just saying not (ALL) units are capable of transporting (Full) F/W tanks! Youroo!!
