Inverter

Hello,

We have a 2020 Forest River Salem 36BHDS. It has the Whirlpool residential refrigerator. The camper has two batteries, so the dealer told us it should have an inverter. However, it is not where they say it should be. This is a brand-new unit. Any thoughts on where the inverter should be located? Thank you for tour help!

The dealer said it should have an inverter? But didn't show you where it was, how it operated, the resets or fuse protection? Jeez, what a great dealership. Did you have a PDI or a walk thru of the systems?

As I am looking into the storage area, which wall panel? Will I have to remove screws to pull the panel?

The 36 BHDS has only one storage area, in the right-front of the trailer. This is under one of the beds in the front bunkhouse. The panel to the left, toward the center of the camper, only has two screws. Those screws are for the frame for the bed above. The camper has a rear bedroom where the fuse box is.

the inverter should be as close to the battery as they can get it, so it sounds like you're going to have to go hunting.

the inverter itself is about 3 or 4 inches thick by 8 inches or so wide by about 12 to 14 inches long. this will give you an idea of the size of area to look for.

I am wondering... could it possibly be between the front panel of the storage and the trailer shell! I watched a video on YouTube that a dealer did. The inverter in the video absolutely matches your description, so I know what I am looking for. Is there any chance it is mounted to the frame but on the outside of the shell? I have the extended service plan, so if all else fails, I will have them come take care of it,.

I doubt it, it needs to be somewhere water proof.

what problem are you having with it?

The refrigerator will only run when the camper is plugged in.

ok, look around inside the front of the trailer down low there should be a 2x2 in square plastic plate with a push button on it , if you find it push the button it should light up indicating the inverter is on. leave that button turned on and whenever you are unplugged from shore power the inverter will run the fridge.

I looked around a bit but did not find it. Would the push button switch have to be near the front of the trailer?

Just curious, if this is your RV. around the 6:05 mark he opened up the cabinet to the left of the microwave. There was something on the back wall (bottom left hand side) that I couldn't make out if it was an outlet or switch.

There is a storage cabinet immediately to the left of the microwave in the video above. There was something on the back wall of this cabinet that I couldn't make out what was.

no not necessarily , the inverter should be within 3 or 4 ft of the battery..... but looking at the floorpan wmtire posted the switch is probably somewhere around , behind or under the bunkbeds.

after looking at part of the vid , if that outside storage is the only one I would be willing to bet the inverter is behind the panel on the left, which if it is the on off switch would be somewhere around that passenger side bunkbed

Could the fridge be 12 volt?

Inverters are sort of big and usually really close to the batteries.

If you only have one battery it would not cool very long.

If one of the sales people forgot to turn a light off or flip the disconnect. The battery would not last long.

Voltmeter might help solve the issue.
