New to this - Do I need a Slider Companion?

Going to look at a unit we put a deposit on (Salem Hemisphere 378FL) tomorrow and I have a 2022 Ram 2500 mega cab 6.5' bed. Do I need a B&W Companion Slider for it or would I be safe to have a stationary style? Any other options out there that aren't quite as heavy but are still safe (read scary stuff on the Andersen gooseneck system).

Thanks for any input!

This is my opinion, YES!

I have a 2008, Dodge Mega CAB with the 6-.5" bed like you. I have used two different sliding hitches in this truck. The first one was a manual slider a Resse 16K hitch and now a Demco Auto Slider. The Demco is more costly and heavier, but I no longer need to get out and release the hitch to allow the hitch to slide back.

I use a hoist to remove the hitch from the bed if I need an empty bed. Which I have found to be very rare. So, I use a folding tonneau cover to cover the bed and keep the hitch dry when I am not towing my trailer.

Or a Reese Goosebox? I currently use the Andersen ultimate hitch and have no issues but will be switching to the Goosebox this year for the airbags in that style plus it still gives me use of my truck bed when not hauling a fifth wheel.

X2 best way to go for me. The Demco hitch is great.

Or get away from any kind of slider and upgrade to a Reese Sidewinder used with a standard truck hitch
