New trailer?

Considering purchasing a Wildwood x-lite 171RBXL from the rv show in town. Does anyone have this trailer? Dry weight is 3798, will be pulling with a 2010 GMC Sierra crebcab, 4.8L V8. From my attempt at research towing capacity of 4600.( I think that is a little low myself) Any input is much appreciated on trailer or tow.
Thanks

I pulled the x-lite 201bhxl with a 2003 GMC Envoy that had the 4.2l 6 cylinder. Dry weight was 4300#. Wasn't going to win any races and got 5 MPG at best but it pulled it ok. I think you will be fine. Envoy was rated at 5500#. Depending on what rear axle you have.

2WD Crew Cab Short box
3.23 ratio 4700#
3.73 ratio 6700#

4WD Crew Cab Short Box
3.42 ratio 5500#

You'll have no trouble pulling that.

We bought the Cruise Lite 171RBXL (essentially the same TT) last September and my TV was a 2010 Ford F-150 with the 5.4l V8 and 3.55 axle. It sure seemed to struggle when pulling up even small hills. Since it was time for a new truck anyway, we got a F250 6.2L V8 with 3.73 axle --- problem went away. The F250 was probably a little over-kill though. I think if I had just gotten a F150 with the same axle ration I would have probably been fine.

201BHXL towed w/2015 GMC Canyon

We just towed from Philly to Fort Myers with the TT around 5200 lbs and averaged 12.2 MPG. 1458 miles going I 81 to I 75 and took 27 around Atlanta and I 75 from Valdosta to FM. I have the Blue Ox WD hitch. I didn't have any real issues. The stock tires on my Canyon are less than adequate. They would allow the back of my truck to get pushed over when a big rig blew by. The WD hitch took care of the sway fairly well but I'll upgrade from 110 to 121 rated tires.

The Canyon did well and cruising around 60 to 65 was comfortable. We did it in 4 days. We couldn't keep up with the big boys, but I never expected to. Total weight was right around 11,200. The Canyon is a V6.

Towing capacity is 7000 lbs for the truck.

If you really want to know your capabilities, look up your Sierra in the table in your owners manual, starting on page 5-57. (You'll see that towing capacity runs from about 4,800 lb to about 10,700 lbs depending on the exact model - a BIG delta.) That will tell you your Sierra's towing capacity. Then open your drivers door and look at the payload capacity on the sticker on the door frame. That will tell you your Sierra's payload, i.e., how much you can load your Sierra (meaning passengers, "stuff," and tongue weight).

If you don't have the manual, you can find it here:

http://www.gmc.com/content/dam/GMC/g...rra-manual.pdf

Dry weight is for suckers. Look at the sticker on the drivers side of the TT. It will tell you the GVWR. Compare this to your tow capacity.

Then take 15% of the GVWR and use that as your tongue weight. Add passengers and "stuff." Remember to add 50-75 lbs for a weight distributing hitch. Compare this number to your payload.

If everything is below the towing capacity and payload numbers, you should be good to go.
