Slide Topper

We recently picked up our Salem FSX 178BHSK. Last weekend I went to install a slide topper and found out the gutter didn't include the channel for the slide topper to slide into. I've seen other owners of the same model that have the slide channel built in. Dealer is telling me that's not part of the regular builds and I should just screw the rail that came with the Solera topper into the camper.

I'm wondering if the other owners got lucky and they put the wrong one on theirs, or if it's supposed to come ready to install a topper without having to screw anything additional onto the camper?

Ours came with the plates and channel already installed. Just had to attached the rod holder hardware (can’t remember what they are called) to the plates and slide the topper in the channel. Not sure if it is standard or not but our 21’ 178 Fsx platinum did.

@BTTravels - What top did you buy that fit. Mine has the brackets on the slide, I haven't looked to see if there is a channel. I wanted to purchase one, but wasn't sure what to get.

whats the problem with installing the channel for the topper just under the gutter? this is done on many rigs including mine is a very easy DIY project. Do you think the factory sorted you by not providing a rail for a topper when you didn't order one?

just make sure to use a good sealant under the rail. I would use a marine sealant.
