T23FBL Radio Removal?

Hello, I own a 2006 Salem T23FBL and have a couple questions about the radio.

1) I was wondering if anyone had any info about or experience with how to remove the factory radio.

2) Does anyone know what that little square spot is above the radio? It looks to be the size of where a Double Din car stereo would/could fit...

welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. I suspect that the space above the radio was how they filled in the hole after radio installation.

Have you tried prying off the strips on each side of the radio, from the picture it looks like there is a trim piece on each side of the radio probably covering screws.
