Toilet smell

Hello, i have a 2020 Forest River Salem that i 10000% know needs a new toilet like I’ve seen on other posts. Its been used five times and has this potent smell that people talk about. I’m a 10/10 in the OCD department so i know it’s a problem! Can someone tell me what the quickest way to get a new one is? It’s model number is 241BHXL. Thanks so much!

the toilet will have a sticker and model number on it...
Dometic 300 is popular, is made of plastic and is THE ONE that you have read about smelling like urine...

I quick fix is to get the Dometic 310 porcelain model. It takes up about 1/2 inch to the rear more then the 300 model otherwise is a direct replacement. It took me about 20 minutes to pull my old one and put in a replacement on a hot July day.

Order from amazon and if you have a fitment problem return it.

I’m super thankful for your response! Yup, this is our toilet! Need to replace ASAP! Will the company not reimburse me?

Toilet smell

I have the same issue in my 2018 Salem. Either call Dometic for a replacement or go through your dealer for warranty work if still under your warranty. Dometic only gives you another 300 that doesn’t have the defect.

FR customer service sent us a new 310 replacement for our 300 several years ago -- no charge. Don't know if they'll still do it but it doesn't hurt to ask.

When you call Dometic, you will need the serial number located on the sticker behind the flush pedal.

I did the 300 to 310 switch out in about 20-25 minutes by myself.
I recommend wrapping a roll of TP in a plastic bag to prevent dropping anything into the black tank (it also helps block any lingering smells that might waft up).

I just returned from a 5k mile trip in my 2020 Salem 27RE (300 model Dometic toilet) and we had the smelly toilet issue about halfway through the trip. I thought the toilet just needed cleaning but after 4 cleanings it still smelled like old urine. Went online and saw videos about the failed gaskets and how it allows black water into the pedestal. I covered the opening in the back of the toilet with duct tape and that cut out the smell. After we returned home I bought a new 310 model and changed the toilet out right away. There was a good 2 gallons of water in the pedestal of the old unit. Pretty unsat!
