Trailer Jack

Greetings All,

I have a 2020 Salem 240BHXL. I carry a 2 ton floor jack for just in case. I have seen the Trailer Aid Plus ramp and Andersen Rapid Jack for changing a flat tire. I also read a lot of reviews that it doesn't work on all TT. Does anyone on here have know if they actually work on tandem axle TT? Specifically Forest River- Salem Cruise Lite?

Thanks

I would think it has to be a tandem axle trailer to work at all since you need to drive the good tire onto the ramp to lift the flat tire. Instead of carrying an extra jack to change a flat, have you tried your vehicles jack? My truck’s scissor jack works perfectly on my trailer.

I got a Trailer-Aid Plus off of Amazon a couple months ago when I upgraded the tires on my 42ft Sabre 5'er. It too has tandem axles and it will work on your TT too.

Although the Trailer-Aid Plus should've worked out of the box with my RV, it did not get the tires up off the ground enough that I could remove 'em. However, the 5.5 inches of lift may get your TT up off the ground. If it doesn't get the job done, like on mine, you can modify it so it'll work.

Go to Lowes or Home Depot and get a 2 x 6 x 8 board, some 2.5" and 3" galvanized lag bolts and washers. Cut the board to the dimensions of the Trailer-Aid. Drill holes thru the board so that they line up with the screw holes on the bottom of the Trailer-Aid. Screw the lag bolts and washers into the holes from the bottom of the board into holes on the bottom of the Trailer-Aid Plus to secure it. Once I did this, the extra 1.75 inches got the wheels up off the ground and was able to change the tires just fine.
