Trust the Floor Anchors?

Was looking...and the floor anchors in this trailer don't look too sturdy!?!?!?(don't have pics...sorry) I called FR and they called the plant and told me they were mounted in a 2x6...but could not provide me with a drawing...which don't tell me much as to how sturdy they are...and they could not give me any official load rating on them either...Thanks for nothing!

So...I was wondering if anyone has the same rig and had made mods or changed them out and could shed any light on their experience with them?

thanks in advance

No idea for you, but for other folks coming along, the rig is a 2019 Forest River Salem FSX 260RT.

In my work trailer I have small d rings installed flush to the floor with 1/4 inch lag screws in the plywood floor. I have hauled a mini excavator many times that weighs around 2600 lbs, strapped at 4 points and everything was good. From memory of seeing the d rings in toy haulers, I would think they would be more than adequate for what you will haul.

Depends on how they are mounted to the floor, when I had by TH 27HFS xlr they screws they used to attach the d-rings to the floor were the cheap self-taping screws, I had two of them break just towing the camper, I replaced the d-rings and screws with d-rings from Menard's and carriage bolts, if you have larger lag screws from the factory you are probably ok, I would check to make sure where the D-rings actually attach, I would't believe anything the dealer or factory says. The garage floor in your TH maybe thicker than a standard RV floor for the weight that will go in there, I would verify everything.

in our grey wolf toy hauler we wanted to put a gold wing inside or our Side by Side.

the sales manager said the anchors were only in with screws and were not solid enough for a motorcycle let alone a SXS. of course he told us this after the unit was sold.

the new toyhauler doesn't seem to have the issue the FR product did.

if you an find a way to look above the underbelly cover you may be able to see what they have on yours.

Pulling out one of the screws would at least tell you what fasteners they used, and you may be able to see how thick the material is...

Yep...the sales guy didn't have a clue...we are finding this to be the norm in the RV world...much to my surprise!

The d-rings are cheap surface mounted with what looks like one 1/4' or 5/16' bolt all the way through and a small washer on the back side...and what looks like a small self tapping screw too...not much for a Road Glide...or anything you value really!

Looks like I will just have to bite the bullet and cut a flap in the under belly moisture barrier and take a look...worst case will install my own d-rings...

You might also want to look into a Bolt-it-On system. Less stress on each D-ring.

Large thick surface washers will spread the load, a backer plate would be ideal
