Adding bleach/chlorine to fresh tank

Our user manual suggests treating the fresh tank with a little bleach, but how does one get the bleach in there? I only know of one way to get fluid into the tank and that is by hooking it to a city water supply with a hose. I don't see anywhere I can pour liquid in.

Advice?

I'm about to do this with my new TT. I've read in other threads the suggestion to put the bleach into the hose first. That disinfects the hose and lets you get the bleach into the system. That's what I'm going to do tomorrow.

X2

Pour bleach down the hose the hook it up or put it in the fw fill then turn hose on.

1/4 cup per 15 gallons of water.

Me, I would never use the "Fresh Water Tank" for anything but Flushing and Washing Hands.

Take plenty of bottled water for drinking and cooking. It's not safe, my opinion, to use this tank for anything else.

Water cheaper than doctors, and you don't to ruin your trip.

I used this pump to put in the water/bleach:
Amazon.com: Camco 36003 Hand Pump Kit: Automotive

It worked well.

Also, I agree with the others that suggest to bring bottled water. I sanitized my system, but still don't drink from it.

I use pool grade chlorine powder. IMO thats easier to deal with and less flushing required to get all the bleach out of the system.

Like many others ... washed dishes, made iced tea, made ice cubes, drank the water ... all using the fresh water tank since the 90's and am still above ground to tell of it. I probably get more germs just leaning on the counter at Mickey D's ordering a burger. I reckon my immune system is powerful ... Ha!
Like mentioned ... I just pour it down the hose and hook up to the fresh water port, then flip the city water valve. I did like my SOB's outside filler port way better than my Silverback's covenience center deal.

Our seasonal site has city water hook up. We use it just like we would a water line at home and have never had a problem.
I like the idea of using the pool chlorine. Since we will be using the fresh water tank on a trip soon, I will try that.

LOL! You must rent your RV That is the only way I would have a problem with using a properly sanitized and aptly named "Fresh Water Tank".

i rinse out an empty wine bottle, pour bleach into the wine bottle and then into the tank. the long neck of the wine bottle makes it easy.

Plus, I seem to have a few of them around....

We drink out of our tank, but sanitize it every season.
