Lights Replacing Bulbs

We have two recessed lights in the kitchen that flicker. Is that from them being cold? Also the kitchen lighting is so dim, would love to put brighter bulbs in the lights over the kitchen island/kitchen table/recessed lights. They look like they are wired in.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Flickering indicate failure on LEDs. They will go out soon.
Those fixtures are meant to be replaced as a unit, which can be pricey, but if you are handy with a soldering gun, you can order generic 2 pin LED bulbs (I get the soft white output with the desired lumens for my application), snip the wires on the old bulb and solder in a new bulb for a fraction of the cost of replacing the entire fixture. Being a retrofit, I have to use a small wire tie to hold the bulb in place in the fixture.
