2010 355QBQ Wiring From Trailer to 7 Way TV

After many years I finally pulled my 7 way loose from the 5th Wheel - it caught between tailgate and bed as I was pulling away - always had just slid right off. I was past Helen Georgia on top of a mountain - so I had to rewire in place, no cell or internet service. Here is what I found -

Before starting, remove ground from battery in trailer (trust me, I did not at first)

1. From TV (7 way pigtail) thicker white (maybe 10 gauge), connect to all the other whites from trailer and they ground inside the silver junction box (splice together with tape or twist nut and tape) - don't do this until you add the ground from brake (step 5) below.

2. From TV brown (right turn signal), connect to trailer blue (yes blue, this is not the brake, as I thought it originally was).

3. From TV red (left turn signal), connect to trailer red

4, From TV green, connect to all the green wires, or white with green, coming out of trailer (this is your running lights) - there was a 15 amp in line fuse wired between the TV and Trailer that I removed - my truck has it's own fuse.

5. There is a two wire sheath running down from the trailer - my sheath was red and it contained a white and black wire. The black wire is your electric break and it connects to your TV light blue - also with this connection add a 3rd wire, either wire from your break away switch (my breakaway switch only has two wires and utilized the 5th wheel battery) - the white wire should be terminated with your other white wires for ground.

6. From the TV, there is a 10 gauge (thicker) black wire that connects to the thicker black wire (not your break wire above) - this is your 12V battery - add the other wire from the breakaway switch (completes circuit) and tie these together.

7 Reconnect your ground cable on battery in 5th wheel.

When I first put mine together I used blue wire from trailer as break and of course I had no electric brakes to help me home - interesting experience coming down a 3000 North Georgia Hill without electric brakes - thank goodness for my Allison transmission assisting me.

I have the same camper and have had trouble with the cord getting pulled out on turns. I guess it was to short to go over the tail gate to the plug. It always got pulled out on turns that I didnt feel was to sharp. I put a plug inside the bed of the truck and have not had any trouble since. By chance can you tell me what size your bumper is outside and inside dimension. Mine doesnt seem to be as thick guage steel as what I have read. I have considered welding a thicker tube inside to support more weight and stability for our bike rack
