Moryde steps now adding storage box.

Anybody else with the sierra bunk room - fifth wheel (365saqb) , add the moryde steps and the storage box. If you did how, did the fit good?

I don't have that specific model but I do have a sandpiper. If you look on their website, they have very detailed instructions on how to measure for clearance etc. I have the storage box as well and its pretty awesome too. the stairs are so much more stable and don't rock the camper when I enter or exit. One thing to note is make sure you have clearance to pull them out when the camper is in storage (if this applies to you)

Thanks. I did check all my measurements very closely. Looks like a good fit. I wanted to ask someone who has done it to be sure. I’m sorry to have to block the light with the box. I liked the way it lit up under the moryde steps. I may move it.

Just need to re mount the light someplace. Where did anyone else who installed the storage box mount their light? I like where it was because it lit up the steps.

I've been considering doing this also. Looks great, love the storage box.

We were all ready to convert to the Mor-Ryde or other "store inside aka pull-down solid step" when it occurred to me that when the 5er is in storage I wouldn't be able to get inside because there is not enough room to pull the steps down without hitting either the storage wall or a trailer that might park next to me. So sad...they really are nice.

They were available as an option, chose not to go with them for a similar reason. I like the stability of the steps but room doesn't allow for it in my circumstance.

Can't say for sure but when my regular steps are down, I've got just enough room to pass between the steps and my garage. The other just will not work for me. Another draw back is I'd have to deploy the steps even to slide a cooler or tote inside. True, they'd be nice for stepping.

I think it is 3’ from Rv to where the step feet touch the ground. I will measure again when I can. We love the steps even with the few draw backs they have. They are worth it. People complain about them being wet or dirty when put them up, I just dry them off has not been a problem yet. They r easy for ME to lift. They r making a add on strut assist to come out soon.

Finished re mounting the light. Came out great. Had to seal it good with caulk and butyl tape because it is hanging down now so water not get in it. It still lights up the steps good. Click image for larger version

Did anyone who has done this swap out have to trim the screen door? my dealership talked me out of it because they said they have not gotten 1 retrofit to work out yet as the higher threshold binds the screen door and needs to be trimmed. I looked today at the display at the trailer show for the aftermarket replacement, and sure enough it looks like the screen door was 1/2 shorter than the door and looked trimmed to me.

OEM fitment looked great, but i suppose it's possible the door is slightly shorter when factory installed?

Yes I had to grind down the aluminum bottom of screen door. It comes off and you have to remove the sweep. They said “some” have to do that. I was not happy about it but it was worth it. I told them they needed to tell people you may need to trim screen door and remove the sweep. They said I could also move screen door up at the hinges. My screen door is riveted to the frame. I told them no way I would do that. Again I’m glad I am somewhat mechanical, retired, and I got these steps.

Great info here on the swing down steps. We are looking to upgrade to this feature (either Moryde or the competitors) to prevent the rocking of the trailer when we enter and exit. We have a 2015 MicroLite 23LB and there is a strut that runs from the door sill to the main door to hold the door open. What have people done with this strut when installing the solid steps? Relocate or remove all together? Thanks!

Our Moryde steps came with the trailer from the Wildcat factory. Horrible fit. Ruined the screen door. The outer door would bind.

The factory wound up replacing our entire door, screen door, and the door frame. They kept the steps on the trailer but put new brackets on the steps that are much thinner. The fit now is MUCH better and everything works to our satisfaction.

But, I'll tell you, if you are considering a retrofit, you may have some real compatibility issues with your existing door.

I can't believe that this product was ever tested. How could it ever work properly. It was all SO OBVIOUS.

The steps overall provide some benefit for stability. But, there are access issues in storage or even in a parking lot. You can't just open the door and flip your dog in the trailer while you grocery shop. And when you go to store the steps, all of the sand/dirt from the steps gets dumped on the floor of your trailer; especially if you have put "step covers" on the steps.

We would never get a trailer with these steps again.

We love the steps and stop while traveling all the time nd never had an issue or a complaint. just be careful to put em up before you take off. [emoji849]. Did it once with no damage. Here is what fit in our box. I waterproofed the box with gaskets. I Adjusted the latch a little to compensate for the gasket. Click image for larger version
