Propane Question....

I had to unhook my furnace from the propane system today and take the furnace to a shop to the worked on. My question, which may be really dumb is.....If I turn my propane tanks back on in order to have hot water will it also be leaking out of the pipe that runs to the furnace?

Just not sure if it is somehow shut off since the furnace isn't connected to it or if propane will continue to flow out of the pipe unless shut off.

It will leak like the mouth of the Mississippi river, you need to plug or cap the end of the gas line.

You don't say that there was a valve on the line going to the furnace that you could turn off, so I tend to agree with Ford's post above. You'll need to plug the line in order to stop the gas flow.
