Rv GPS

Can anyone recommend a good rv / trucking GPS? Need one that will keep me away from low bridges/ overpasses. Thanks.

Our Garmin RV 760 GPS is supposed to warn you of an upcoming low clearance (don't know that it actually eliminates that route, but thankfully we haven't encountered one yet!). We also added the 'Low Clearance' database to our Garmin.

In addition we travel with a hard copy of the Rand McNally Motor Carriers (Truckers) Atlas. First thing I check is locations of low clearances in new states when traveling.

We purchased the Garmin as well. With very limited use to date what we have noticed is that it seems to want to keep you on the interstate. If you decide you don't want to sit in traffic for 3 hours and try to take a different route it continues to try to route you back to the freeway which is kind of a bummer. Other than that it works well.

There is an option in TomTom to avoid highways. Not sure in Garmin, look in your route option settings.

I have the old Garmin Nuvi 465LMT, which was a commercial truck GPS and is now discontinued. It did come with lifetime map updates though and it's still pulling updated road hazard information so I would imagine any of the new RV specific units work the same.

I won't travel without it given the height, combined length, and weight of the 365SAQ.
