Cable/satellite connection
So I know this topic has been done to death but after all the research I still cannot find the answer to my question. There were a few threads that were close but they’re so old I could not reply to them. Wildcat 293REX has a cable/satellite hook up. Can I hook up a satellite dish and receiver to this connection without doing anything else? The only thing I got from my owners manual is keep power booster turned off when using this connection.

As far as I know, that connection can be used for both cable or satellite connections. Many people use portable satellite dishes if they tend to camp in forested areas.

Well I plan on buying the play maker and Wally receiver bundle and using dish pay as you go for my satellite service. If this connection doesn’t work at least it will be easy to add a dedicated satellite connection at the back corner on the driver side.

Why?
the cable ran from the outside jack is a homerun to tv wall plate that meets the over the air tv antenna, the booster switch switches between wires.

On my last two 2018 fifth wheels one 35'and my current one 40' i got no signal running through rv coax, but as soon as i hook coax directly to receiver everything works just fine.the fifth wheel i have now same way i have now a dish 1000.2 full size house dish with two tvs running through rv system with no problems maybe my playmaker has a problem.
I guess i should have not posted what i said.i do hope it works for you.

If the satellite cable is a dedicated run (without a splitter) it should work. In my experience, satellite tuners don't usually work with a splitter before the sat box.

Satellite receivers will not work with a standard splitter between the receiver and the dish. The frequencies used and many tuners get their power over the wire from the receiver...conventional splitters will block these. There are splitters available that will work for this application but you won't find them at Home Depot. Of course, it does beg the question as to why there would be a splitter between an input and a source selector switch but some RVs apparently have them.
Good luck, you may need to run another cable...or you may not.

i had to change mine, must be dedicated coax from receiver to dish, cannot have a splitter (i did read somewhere that there is a special kind of splitter that will work but have not investigated). I don't use park TV so rewired mine and disconnected the coax between the antenna and connection, someday I might add another connector.

It just kind of confuses me because the hook up doesn’t say cable it says cable/satellite. Either way I’m going to try to use this connection and if it don’t I am fortunate that it will be very easy to put in a dedicated satellite connection straight through the wall to the receiver then HDMI from the receiver to the TV.

I bet if you hook up your receiver to the sat in and then hookup your tv to the hdmi on the receiver it will work, I bet that is a home run cable from the outside to that wall plate. worth a try
