Faded front cap

Has anyone had any problems with their front cap fading horribly? Ours faded after less than s year even though we have waxed the whole camper almost ten times. Does warranty cover this? We have a 2014 Wildcat 327CK

It should be covered under warranty. Mine didn't start to go until the warranty was expired. The only permanent fix is to sand and paint the cap. If they replace the cap, it will in time fade again.

It makes me angry that it happened. But at this stage of my life, I have no fight left in me. I'll just live with it.

common across the whole FR line. Mine is brown and fading. Only 1 1/2 years old.

Mine is fading as well. If you search this Forum you will see many issues. I have a 2015 built in 2014 and is covered under warranty. While at the Frog Rally in Goshen, IN this year I noticed that a lot of the Wildcats have this problem as well as the Silverbacks. I notice a few weeks ago that a Jayco Eagle TT had the same issue. It is a problem across the whole RV industry.

Ours has just begun to fade...on the outside edges near the top of the cap.

It turning to a lighter gray after a little over a year.

There is another Wildcat for sale sitting near the highway south of where I live that has almost the entire nose cap faded to the lighter gray. Only part that still looks good is from just below the Wildcat sticker down to the pin box.

Not sure what to do about it...other than try not to let it detract from the fun we have camping.

My 2014 Wildcat 327ck started to fade this summer. I am waiting for an answer right now. Next week it goes back to Wildcat to repair the cracks in the rear sidewalls. I asked if they could do a fix on the front cap while it's down there. Waiting!

Let me know what they say about fixing your front cap, if you don't mind. Thank you.

How's your sidewalls around the top of the rear sliders? Any bulges or cracks? Is yours a Lippert or BAL frame?

My sidewalls are fine so far but we have not moved it since it was delivered. We did have to have our slides adjusted because they were leaving a gap along the top of both big slides. This occurred after the couch slide leaked resulting in warranty adding slide awnings at no cost to us. Also, the slide with the table and recliners has warped so terribly that we were told it needed a new floor. They are supposed to replace it under warranty for us when we get the chance to take it in. We have had numerous other problems but all have been taken care of, for the most part.

The front caps received some bad gelcoat. The gray especially. FR knows about this. Take it to your RV dealer and let them contact FR for the repair. I am not sure however how far back they will cover it.

Just got our 2014 Wildcat 344QB back from the shop. They repainted the front cap at Forest Rivers expense.
I called FR customer service (Wildcat division) a couple months ago and told them about the problem. They told me to have the shop send them an estimate. If it was fair, they would cover it.
They did a great job!
Thanks FR for standing behind your product and thanks to Demontrond RV in Dickinson Tx for great service!

Forest River does not deserve Kudos, they have know about this problem for years and it is still a problem. Their willingness to fix this is all over the place, some people are told tough luck, some get a sand and buff, some get the cap replaced and some get the paint. no real rhyme or reason at to who gets what. All they care about is pumping out units as fast as they can and attempt to deal with it later......

I have a 2014 296rsx and cap is faded half way down. Dealer says FR will pay to repaint. The painter told me they sand the finish, put a good base coat on and two coats of clear coat finish and I should not have anymore problems with fading.

There was a Wildcat Sterling in a site across the road from us at the Amana Rally. It not only had front cap fade it had a bad case of rear end fade too. The owner told me he had an appointment at the Wildcat factory to have it fixed.

I have this fade on the front cap. Mine is a 2012 Sterling. we got to looking and all Brands with this grey front have the same thing. probably a major issue with all the manufacturers. I think the only fix is to have it sanded and repainted. I have enough wax and coating on the front of mine to have added about 20 pounds to it, haha. only good thing is the bugs wipe off easily!! I just do a buff and add more about every 8 weeks or so. might repaint it someday. Mine didnt show up for over 2 years. Dont think FR would cover it due to that.

My Blue Ridge goes in to be painted in a few days. The cap started to fade about a year old. Was kept waxed but still faded. Forest River is taking care of it and so far no complaints. Will be painted and clear coated which should be better than gel coat.

The tan color is fading on mine. FR still not told them to paint it due to a difference in what they will pay. Almost tempted to say I will pay difference just to get it back.
