Girard tankless water heater problems

Hello,
Can anyone give me advice on diagnosing the cause of my tankless water heater not working?

I really don't know much about them?

It's a first generation Girard Tankless water heater. GSWH-1

It would light and then go out right away.
Maybe a pressure sensor fault?

Now it won't light at all.

Cold showers suck....

I'm using the trailer in a couple of weeks, I need to get this fixed ASAP.

Thanks.

I'd suggest you call the company in California in the morning. If you are nocturnal, maybe check their website for troubleshooting info.

Thanks, I sent an email to Girards tech department. I just thought I'd see if anyone on here had similar problems.

Just call Girard. I had issues with mine early on. Their tech will talk you thru the problem. Very helpful & informed techs.

They will send you parts if need be. Also they are on West coast time.

Girard Water Heater Issues

You may have already checked this out but here's a link to their website.
There are some troubleshooting guides in the owners manuals.

I also had a lot of problems with my tankless WH. Finally managed to get it changed out for a new model, with the adjustable temperature control. Works reasonably well now. The techs are very helpful. However, if I was to get a new trailer not sure I would go with tankless.

Kyle Johnston in support at Girard is very good to work with. It definitely sounds like a sensor issue. If it doesn't get the right signals it shuts off quickly.

Girard

You might try tapping on the flow switch. Ours has the same problem and every time it was in for warranty work there was no problem.

The tech said to try to tap on the flow switch and it seems to take of the problem. There is some sort of ball in it that sticks. It is a pain.

Well Girard sent me different parts next day . No charge !! I call them maybe 5 times in a two week time period-- always talked to a tech??

So maybe try calling them again. Remember it if 2pm out there right now. Be a great time to call them. They sure helped me ??

They are 3 hour behind eastern time. Good luck.

Every time I call during business hours, It goes to a message.

I've left a few.

Someone finally called me back about 5 days later. I told him I'd rather communicate via email because I was busy at work.

He sent a test email. So I replied with questions for him. Twice!
That was 3 days ago.

Still waiting.....

Well, I haven't been able to get any messages returned from Girard!

The sail switch is out of stock at all RV dealers around here. And their suppliers are out of stock as well.

Leaving for vacation next Friday. I need to find this part.

My water heater is model GSWH-1

And I'm told the sail switch is part number 1GWH6600

If anyone knows where I can get this ASAP I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks.

At this point I think I would just bypass the sail switch. We had the same problem with our Atwood when it was new and the tech instructed me on how to install a jumper wire until they could send me a new switch. I believe I just connected the 2 wires that go to the switch but I would verify with a tech first.

I did find this switch # on Amazon. It says it for an Atwood but the part number is the same.
