Last trip to Destin Fl, noticed the driver side front tire was excessively worn on the outside tread. Other 3 are wearing evenly. Original tires on 2016 WC 327CK. They are Provider 235/80-16 E rated with about 17k miles. Want to replace with 235/85-16 F or G rated, but want to try to get it aligned first. Anyone know who does 5er alignments in Charlotte area? I heard about alignment kits that can be added, but they raise the height of the rig about 2 inches. Hoping it's not a broken leaf spring. Any ideas or others with same problem?
Different than my Wildcat. After two years and MANY miles, I have had to replace tires on the rear axle. First one last summer, maybe July. Then the other side just now. The front axle tires are still good. Obviously have more weight on the rear axel.
Does yours ride high in front while towing? Mine was a little high in front, so I had the dealer raise the pin box to the highest set of holes, which lowered the front when hooked up.
Verified I have a bent spindle causing the irregular tire wear. Thinking about upgrading both axles from 6k to 8k, with G rated 14 ply tires. Anyone out there done that? Found a guy that manufactures trailers using Dexter axles like on my Wildcat. He says the manufacturer (FR) should use the 8k axles. They come with bigger, self adjusting brakes. It's expensive but I think I might do it for more peace of mind when towing.
My Wildcat was wearing the rear axle right side tire's inside edge. After checking for square, toe, and camber I found the axle to be bent, like yours.
I aligned it myself using a porta-power or bottle jack and chain. It's been 3 or 4 years and thousands of miles with minimal tire wear. I've also done 3 other trailers with no further issues. There is a YouTube video out there if you want to see how it's done.
I agree, many of these trailers don't have a high enough weight capacity rating axles. Also if you hit one large pothole or clip a curb it can get bent out of alignment too.
