Main A/C comes on when furnace starts - 2019 WC

We have a 2019 Wildcat. I can't remember the first time I started it, but now when I start the furnace to heat the interior, the main A/C (roof mount over the door) comes on but doesn't turn off when the furnace turns off. Any ideas? Right now we are turning off the system and using a space heater and electric blanket...

Which A/C and thermostat do you have.

The A/C blower coming on with the furnace is a "Feature". If you have the fan setting on the thermostat set to either Hi or Lo the blower will run anytime the furnace is selected. If you have it on Auto it won't come when the furnace runs.

Our AC is the 15K model, but also has an integral heat pump. It will come on like yours, depending on the temp set point on thermostat, if in Auto.

SOLVED!

Thank you! That was it! We set it to Auto and now the top fan doesn't come on when the furnace does.

Just remember, this 'feature' is an option and not a problem.

The manufacturer's thinking is, heat rises and since the A/C recirculates inside air and the intake is on the ceiling, having the A/C fan run when the furnace runs helps distribute the heated air throughout the R/V more evenly.

Having the fan setting on Hi or Lo accomplishes this and having the fan setting on Auto (AU) turns the A/C fan off.

THANKS!!! I've had this issue and never understood why sometimes the AC fan would come on. Now I'll always run on AUTO fan.

Glad it helped you. It's an aggravation to me, but they have a rational for it that I can live with.

Agree. It's certainly not what I'd call user friendly at first glance...but, when understood it makes sense (After 51 years, wife still has to remind me to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS ). Still, I'd bet most will keep on auto so as to keep the noise and air movement to a minimum. A "feature" that may be useful in some instances, but I haven't experienced one...yet.
