Technical Question

I have a 2015 Wildcat Maxx 28RKX.
The unit has a platform/spare tire carrier on the rear. I am planning on removing the spare tire, lowering the platform and securing with the pins provided. I plan to mount a Champion generator that weighs approximately 100lbs. My concern is the "bouncing" going down the road. The factory says the platform is rated 150lbs. Does anyone out there have experience/recommendations about this.

I suspect if it came from the factory with a fold down rack that is rated for 150# then 100# shouldn't be an issue. Is the rack solely mounted to the bumper or the frame?
Many factory racks mount to the frame.

It's the folks who add something aftermarket to bumpers that have issues.

Try running the generator on that platform be for you mount it. When I did mine there was to much vibration and it made a lot of noise inside the trailer.

I suggest you place something that has little value that weighs about 100lbs on the rack then have someone tow it down a typical road and follow it. Then make your decision. Based on my experience being behind items ( bikes/gensets) on the back of TT/5ers I would not do it.

Again... it depends on the rack.
These are the folding racks on many Flagstaffs/Rockwoods that come factory equipped.
I would not be afraid to load it to the rated capacity and use it as intended.

I agree with FLYBOB, I built mine and I haul firewood, bikes, and sometimes extra propane bottles. I have had my friends follow me and said that everything rides smooth, but I have seen some that I was afraid to follow because the bounced around to much.
