Too Cautious ?

2022 FR Wildcat 5th wheel

On most trips I park for multiple days. No problem, but some time I’m only parking over night. Still in a park but I don’t always hook up the water or sewer. I do want to open the slides. To get away quick the next morning I have considered not disconnecting from the pick up. But, I’m worried about moving the slide outs if not leveled possibly torquing them. Also, I’m worried about putting down the legs. Concerned about raising the truck too high stressing the legs and truck or lowering the truck under too much weight pressure.

Am I over doing this?

Yes… I don’t disconnect when overnighting if site is relatively level. I do put the jacks down to take out some of the rv wiggle. I do put down the landing gear and lift the weight off the truck. I do disconnect the 7 pin plug.

I’ve never had an issue and many on this site do the same thing. You may be camping a little uphill but it’s ok for 1 night

You posted a very similar thread in July. Read the answers we gave you then and see if any of them allay your caution.

Probably. You just need to use a bit of common sense.
If you're in an area where you are way out of level, you may need to disconnect and level the unit for the slides. In other words, try to pick a level place to park overnight.
If you don't need to put out the slides, just park in a reasonably level spot.
When you're set up, disconnect the electric cord so that you're battery doesn't discharge in your truck overnight. It shouldn't happen, but better safe than sorry. We also carry a jump starter for the engine battery because we're overcautious.
We put down chocks as a precaution in case the brakes fail.

If something doesn't feel right as you set up.... don't do it.

Thanks for the help. Sorry about the repost. This is my first big camper and first 5th wheel. Just don’t want to damage anything. I tend to be very critical when I make mistakes that cost me money. We are just living in my Social Security. Our previous experiences were tent camping and a pop up.

As long as your site is fairly level there's no need to unhook. Lower the landing gear and any other stabilizers/jacks, open the slides and have at it.

We do this often with every R/Vl we've had.

If your site is too far out of level you may need to unhook to drop the nose if necessary.

Some trucks you have to pull the umbilical cord, other trucks disconnect from the truck when off without removing the plug.. You need to know what YOURS does.
