After lengthy shopping we bought a new to us Wildcat 2011 29bhs tt due to the appearance of quality construction, great floor plan for expected added campers and of course a reasonable price , weight and load capacity not to mention our local FR dealer who we dealt with in past. Service has always been important to us.
We will find out this week if expectations are correct when we pick it up after 7 months in storage the ice is clearing from the harbor, it's 38F here today. The local dealer has changed attitude and the weight capacity has been reduced as 3500lb axles were used instead of 5000lb axles . Off to a rough start and we haven't moved it an inch in 7 months. Probably a mistake but ....

You might want to PM Wildcat Chris about the 3500lbs axles

Thank you Frank-VA for contact information. I did not follow my own advice last fall to check all purchases for consumer product and highway recalls prior to purchase of new or used. Was I surprised to read the recall and the labels on axles pictures on a snowy night.

I'll take it for a test camp Thursday, a little camp time may take the bite out.

We have a 2009 29.5RL. the first reason was the holding tank sizes. To my knowledge Wildcat is the only 100 gal gray water tank. I like the interior of our unit. We did purchase new Lazy Boys that blends well with the decor. If we do purchase, I would like another slide in the living area with a center door. Some campground are designed for center doors.

Walked into our 2010 28 footer with double living room slides & we were sold. Then the extra features just kept coming. TV rising up from the cabinet, 16 inch wheels, rear electric stabilizers...

We have owned six campers over a period of 40 years . . . one pickup slide-in and the five fifth wheels. Each one has been a different brand. Our current camper is a 2012 Wildcat Sterling 30RL. It had more features and room with a lower weight plus it was priced right. We have had good luck with all our campers, but this one is the best. I'm 6'6" and need room. We have pulled it more than 35,000 miles in the past three years. It's been to the Great Lakes, Gulf, Rockies, and East coast. The next trip is to the West coast. Also, I have pulled with F100's, F250's and F350's through the years. This one is easily pulled with a well equipped F150 and is well within the factory weight limits as weighed on a truck stop scale.

Since that time we've owned 3 diesel pushers-a(1) Gulfstream, (1) Monaco Dynasty, and finally, an Allegro Bus. Mixed in with those MH's, we had a teardrop trailer we pulled behind our street rod, a motorcycle pop-up and currently, a Sprinter based ERA, a Class B MH made by Winnebago and our 13' Scamp fully self contained "egg"travel trailer.
We just bought a Wildcat T24RG (28') travel trailer that we'll be picking up soon. Why did we buy a Wildcat? It really isn't just one thing, it's all about Forest River reputation as well as my son's trouble free experience with his Rockwood 21' trailer over the past 3 years. This coupled with the general quality of construction and interior finish, high R value of the walls, floor, and ceiling. We also wanted the enclosed underbelly with heated tanks, the 1 piece floor, the amenities and extra's included at the price point we wanted. The cargo carrying capacity is much higher than any of the competing brands and the dealer we purchased from (Canopy Country RV) in Ellensburg, Wa is topnotch. Other units had the same floor plan, however, they fell short in either amities, quality, construction, or much higher price for their comparable travel trailer.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!!
UPDATE, traded the 24RG for a 33' 28RKX Wildcat MAXX! Yep, we're sold on Wildcat MAXX units!

We purchased the 2015 28RKX last year. For us it was floorplan first, aesthetics second and price-point third. We had to have a bedroom that was co-located to the bathroom and could be closed off to the rest of living area. We love our "mobile cabin"....

It's just the wife and I. We picked the Wildcat 295rsx over the Grand Design and OpenRange because:
1) BAL frame drop front storage created a huge front storage xarea
2) Maxxis 16" tires and rims
3) Radius shower
4) 2 A/C standard
5) 32" std bedroom TV
6) All LED lighting
7) Std rear bike rack
8) Dealer great Dealer at 35% off MSRP on a custom order
9) Ground Control Auto Level factory installed at half the Camping World price
10) Slide covers all 3 slides $700 total for all
11) Theatre Seating that faces the TV std
12) 9 cuft std refrig
13) Kitchen large pantry
14) Windows on both sides of bedroom bed, much better view and fresh air

For those thinking that the 295RSX might be the best thing since sliced bread, which we thought it was too, until. We were already to place the order for one from the factory and I had a call to the factory rep about some questions on the options. He told me that they had dropped this model and it was no longer available. Only way to get one now is to shop around and see if one is on a lot somewhere and take what is available. Not exactly what I wanted to do. I have always ordered my vehicles whether it be a car truck or RV, so I could get the things I wanted and not what the dealer thought I and everybody else wanted. So, we wait and see if something else comes along or we just keep the old rig a bit longer and hope the new 2017's are improved on. Sure liked the 295 though, very nice RV.

We are in the market and I fell in love with the Wildcat! However, we were discouraged by a dealer and stopped looking at the Wildcat (which was a disappointment for me). We recently visited a local RV show and the Wildcat was proudly on display! I love the units I toured, I love the price and after reading all these comments, I believe the Wildcat has moved back to the top of our list!

If anyone has anything further to add I am open minded and willing to hear what you have to add!!!

After going on a factory I saw the roof was made with wooden arched tresses covered with plywood. It looks strong and the water will run off quickly.

Did they say why they were no longer making this model? It seems like a great floor plan with everything a couple wants, in a more manageable size unit. We were getting ready to buy the 295rsx ourselves, but it makes me nervous if they decided to discontinue.

When did you tour? And did you hear anything about the NXG frames? If they would always continue using/ever stop using the drop frame?

We did the tour in August 2014. Until July 2014 they used Lippert frames for all the Wildcat units. Then they replace them with the NXG drop frames. The NXG frames were going to be an improvement to the quality and extra room in the basement. As far as I know this was going to be the standard frame for Wildcat.

I believe they over did making so many options std for no extra charge and then by keeping it in its competitive class was just too big a squeeze on profit. Either that or its too close in features to their much higher priced units. When I was shopping I was surprised to find 2 A/C, 9cuft frig, 16" Maxxis, Folding bike rack, all LED lights, fireplace, both a 50" AND a 32" television -- all no extra charge std.
