Wildcat Maxx Front Cap

Getting ready to have CW replace front cap, Forest River wont pay for paint. Has anyone had cap replaced? worried about leaks and whatever down the road ...

Is the cap being replaced under warranty? If not, I'd prefer to have it repainted if I had to pay for it.

Just curious about the reasons for replacing the cap instead of repainting?

And yep, if it was me I would be worried if anybody but the factory was replacing the front cap But you might get lucky and get somebody who knows what they doing.

I just had my cap repainted and Forest River paid CW to to it. Mine is a 2015 1/2
and was badly oxidized. In speaking to CW service dept. this is apparently a problem for not only Forest River units but other manufacturers who use the same cap supplier. A new cap was not recommended as it will only oxidize again due to a bad or insufficient amount of UV additive to the Gelcoat.

Get it painted even if you have to pay the difference between a new cap and a automotive paint job.

Can you have the new cap painted before they install it. They are going to have to put decals on anyway. Painting the cap could be done at any automotive bodyshop if it isn't installed it would fit in their paint booth. Shouldn't cost more than$700-800. doing this way. No masking, no big trailer to work around. Even if you have to pay for it. Problem will never come back..
