Wildcat satellite 2 cable problem

We just picked up our brand new Wildcat 5er. Got it loaded, and almost ready to roll. I was hooking up our Dish Tailgater to check everything out. Could not get a signal. Called Dish, and they recommended a service tech. The tech came, and determined that something was wrong with the cabling from Satellite 2 in the control panel in the pass through, to the cable outlet by the TV. He was able to determine this, by hooking up the Dish Tailgater directly to the Receiver Box. Will this be able to be corrected by Forest River ?

Probaby not! It is what it is. Most coax cable setups are not designed for satelite, but rather cable TV which is more forgiving of splices. The simplest is to just run a dedicated RG6 coax from a convenient outside location to a new wall plate behind the TV.

Are you absolutely positive you are connecting to the correct cable ends? Have you checked continuity?

Forest River would not put a splitter on a dedicated satellite cable, so you are either using the wrong connections or you have a problem with a cable end connector. You can buy a tester for around twenty bucks which could be a lifesaver for you.

This is a very good tester which requires very little thinking:

You could have determined that yourself without paying for a service call. Yes, FR should be able to fix it.

My experience with satellite cabling in my Wildcat differs from Donnie's "probably". I'm using a DIRECTV system, not Dish, but I hook my SWM antenna to the Sat2 connection in the outside cabinet and use the unused input cable behind the main TV to hook up my power inserter and splitter (came with the antenna) then to my Genie. It works great! Out of the splitter, I hook a cable to the OTA antenna cable for the main TV which runs service to my Genie mini and the 2nd TV in the bedroom.

Problem Solved

Nomad, you hit it right on the nose. I woke up this morning, thinking perhaps the problem is with the little 3 ft. piece of coax I bought, but haven't used yet. When I switched back to my longer piece of coax, hooked it up to the wall outlet, hooked the Tailgater line to the Satellite 2 connection in the pass through, all was perfect. I contacted the service tech, and he will be sending me a refund. Here I am, just an old senior citizen woman, and figured out what the pros should have tried first.

Thank you Again.

You are welcome. I'm glad it was something simple. So many people think too hard when it comes to hooking up their satellite receivers and dish, working backwards from the least likely thing to, finally, the obvious.

PROBLEM ALL FIXED BY THIS SENIOR LADY : No problem with the 5er hookups at all. It was the coax on the receiver box. I contacted the Dishnet service tech, and he will refund my service charge money.

I have a 2016 323RBX. I have read all these forums regarding how to hook up a Direct TV satellite and I am having trouble comprehending on how to get it hooked up throughout the entire RV. Does anyone know where I can locate a wiring diagram for this model or can somebody give me simple instructions on how to hook it up? Also from the Direct TV users, what receiver could I purchase to leave in the RV which would work for HD?
Thanks in advance!

Wildcat satellite 2 cable problem

Inserts power into the cable for the LNB and electronics located on the antenna itself.
