works and now it doesn't

new used trailer, slide out, stabilizers, and awning worked and now they don't. 2017 wildcat maxx T26FBS, traced to relay/ circuit breaker on frame, hot to touch, kept popping breaker, tested 12V wire out to trailer ohms checked to ground, I'm afraid that I'm going down the rabbit hole looking for a grounded wire? HELP, don't know the circuit?

how many ohms to ground? and are you on a low scale?

Is this with the breaker tripped and no AC or soler power? it needs to be.

is the reading stable or does it change as you hold the meter on?

some reading to ground is normal as some things are always on and some may have been left on.

If you are getting near 0 on a low scale try pulling one fuse at a time and you may identify the circuit.

this is the wire removed from breaker and battery off, shore power disconnected and no solar power, taken with a Fluke Meter .2 ohms and a audible beep on continuity. This is a 12V battery supply to trailer and their should be now continuity to ground.

If the wire is disconnected at both ends and it's reading practically zero ohms to ground then you have a shorted conductor. You'll have to check along the wire route for a short to the frame. It's most likely where the wire runs across a frame member without any protection.

Assuming you have an enclosed underbelly, then you may have to remove some of it to access the route.

The problem description is a little unclear to me.

Usually, the awning, stabilizers, and slide outs are connected directly to the battery (or to the circuit breaker just downstream from it. They will each have an inline fuse. They are not connected to the distribution panel that has all the automotive-type 10/15/20 amp fuses in it.

So the first line of troubleshooting should be to either disconnect the separate wires for awning, stabilizers, and slideout, or to remove the inline fuses. Then:
--See if everything else works
--Re-connect one of the three items
--See if the problem returns
--Then try the next item, etc.

works and don't works

thank you for all your advice members, problem solved, took 2days with help from my son to locate shorted circuit and repair it.
Traced battery feed from breaker at front of trailer to near rear where wire went thru floor to remote control unit. Installer, builder, took extra wire in harness, folded it up and laid them on x-member, then floor was installed on top pitching 8 wires total, the hot feed had finally shorted. Cut, shorten, and properly repair damaged wires, tested systems, all work.

Glad you figured it out, and thanks for coming back and letting us know what it was and how you fixed it.
