Brakes smelling

We have 241qbxl. Smelled brakes upon arrival yesterday after only driving for about 30 min. Never smelled before. Any clues as to why?

New brake linings will often smell for the first few applications. During the burnishing process the binders used to create the linings will off-gas and in short, the brakes will stink. Just like "New Car Smell" this goes away as the linings have been heated to operating temps a few times.

Don't set the brakes too aggressively. Don't want the trailer doing all the braking. Wears them out and creates more heat. Your trailer was probably delivered so they are probably broke in.

Best thing you can do is buy a cheap laser temp and make sure they are all running even temps plus or minus. Same with bearings and tires.

Not enough info. How many trips have you been on with this RV? Were you on a steep downhill or in heavy stop and go traffic? Have you correctly set your trailer brake controller? Have you done the brake setting test on a dirt or gravel road to test your settings to see if the trailer tires skid?
Lots of videos out there on how to do all of these things if you haven't done so.

Thanks. Seems like they were grabbing this time in comparison to the last time. I think the brake controller settings might need redoing. This trip had no more stop and go than any of the others.

I think the brake controller might have to be reset. They seemed to grab a lot at very slow movement. Thx

Set your controller until it just makes your tires skid on gravel/dirt when fully applied. Then back off until the tires do not skid.
