New camper, lots of questions

Hey everyone, we just bought a 2020 wildwood xlite 273qbxl and love it so far. I am someone who like to do any preventive maintenance on my toys. Can you tell me if I need to do anything with the slide to keep it working properly? This is our first camper with a slide. Does this model come with a black tank flush? If so where is it located? My last travel trailer had a gas/electric refrigerator, this one is only electric. How do you travel with it full of food and keep it cold? I am taking it to ,y local trailer shop to check the brakes, bearings and tires to make sure it is good to go for this season. Is there anything else you can tell me about this model? Thanks again.

Welcome from SoCal!

Slides need lubrication. Consider a topper to keep debris off and out. There is a Wildwood specific forum that will be of more help.

Elecric refridgerator are the subject of much discussion. Make sure the fridge is cold (run overnight) before placing food in it. Assuming your distination has AC, you should be fine until you get there. If it a long trip to your destination, you may need some frozen jugs to get you there.

Check on your tires and confirm that they are from a reputable source (not Castlerock)

If you're using a 7-pin umbilical between your trailer and tow vehicle, the 12V supply will run the fridge. Make sure your battery is charged before you travel.

NOT true if he has a 120 Volt Reefer.

If he does have a 120 Volt Reefer he could install an inverter to power it while traveling though.

As indicated, your fridge either needs an inverter (dc to ac conversion) or needs to be plugged into a 120v source at campsite (either at pole or generator). If you get an inverter, you need to make sure it can output the wattage necessary for your fridge and know how to connect it to your batteries.

I lube my slide rails with a dry lubricate every season and make sure to run it out and in every once in a while. I also treat the slide seals with a UV protectant every few months.

Is the refrigerator a residential refrigerator (120 volts ac) or a camper refrigerator (12 volt dc)? Is 120 volt and model year 2020 it will have an inverter already installed.

In either case run the refrigerator while lugged into shore power for several hours before you leave in order to cool it down. Make sure your batteries are fully charged before you leave. If you do both these things you should be able to drive all day and keep the refrigerator running. Then plug back into shore power when you arrive at your destination. If shore power is not available then things get a bit more tricky.

For what it is worth we travel all day with a residential refrigerator and two group 27 batteries keep it running! We plug into shore power at night.

Thanks for all of the replies. Next question is when I am plugged in at home and storing my camper, is there a way to turn my refrigerator off? It seems to be running while I am plugged in and I would like to turn it off in between camp trips.

The OP stated that their PREVIOUS trailer had a gas/electric fridge. Their new trailer has electric only but didn't clarify if it's a 110v AC only fridge or a 12v only fridge.

Until you clarify what type of electric fridge or post make and model number of fridge, not much can be said.

So you have confirmed that there is no on/off switch on the refrigerator itself?

If 120 volt turn the circuit breaker off. If 12 volt pull the fuse. There have been quite a few posts concerning 12 volt refrigerators and how to turn them off.

Third option, which many promote, is to put the extra beer in it and let it run.

You need to post the make and model to get an answer as to whether you can turn it off when plugged in......

I vote for option #3.

That fridge is 12v ONLY. So it runs straight off the battery.
Now you need to research the challenges of a 12v only fridge.
Most add at least 200w of solar and upgrade the batteries, to 6v golf cart batteries, AGM batteries or LiPo batteries.
