Rooftop solar connection on 25 HBRL

Hi .....

Late last fall we just picked up a barely used 2021 Heritage Glen 25RBHL. It has many options but didn't come with the factory-installed rooftop solar panel. However, I understand all the connections are there.

I've been searching all over for pictures/specs of the connections and brackets with no luck.

Can somebody share pics or know what size (dimension) solar panel this trailer is set up for?

I'm considering a Renogy system and want to make sure I buy the right system.

I can't climb up to check as the trailer is in storage 1.5 hours away.

welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. The right system is the one you determine will meet your power needs take some time and figure that out. I would recommend taking a road trip camp in the rig and measure the space and connectors you need. JMHO

When planning a solar system, you should start at the other end of the system. The first thing you want to do is determine how much power (AHrs) you anticipate using daily. The next thing will be to factor in where you will be camping ( open area or shaded forest) and the weather in that location. Once you know your daily demands, sun light availability and storage capacity, you will be able to determine the solar requirements for you needs. Renogy has a good tutorial and some tools to determine these.

My question is, how do you understand the connections are there? I have the sister unit (salem) in a 2020 model and while there is a "port" on the side of the trailer for solar power, I've never seen anything else and I have looked on top of the trailer.

Now maybe its hidden inside of something or I missed it. I have seen models like mine with solar panels attached to the roof, but I would be surprised that they put all the wiring in there and no panel. But maybe they do that sometimes.

I just wouldn't want you to buy something and not be able to return it. Good luck with it though!!

He may be right on having the solar prewired on the roof. It appears Forest River has been switching from the side port to the roof port over the last two model years.

Our 2020 Wildwood had the solar port on the side, but our 2022 Wildwood has the MC4 connectors and prewire to the roof.

You need to find a day to make the trip to the storage area and get on the roof to see what you got.

If you do indeed have the connectors on the roof, you're halfway there and need to plan your system as others have stated, with power consumption need driving the system you ultimately purchase and install.
