C'mon, Ron, you're an old-timer here. You're supposed to know these things!

Carnac the Magnificent (I just consulted him) says Matt has a Red F150, but couldn't tell if there's a factory tow package on it or not.

There's a wide "keyway" on both plug and socket. Make sure they match up.

Is there a adapter I plug into my truck so the trailer fits in...or do I have to replace the truck plug?

If the truck has a 7 pin receptacle and the trailer had a 7 blade plug, you don't need any adaptor. Just make sure the raised portion of the plug goes into the recessed slot on the truck receptacle and lift the lid and push it in til the lid(cover) latches over the plug.

Suggest taking a picture of both and posting them.

About a 26"er.

Depends on what you want to run? Some get by with a 2400 but suggest dual 2000 Hondas with a companion kit.

will you use it in a campground or boondocking? makes a big difference. a cheap open-framed gennie will be fine for boondocking but not for campgrounds and neighbors.
you have to choose if you want quiet or cheap, can't have both.

to run everything except the a/c, a 2000w inverter generator will be fine.
if you want to run the a/c and have a 13.5 btu a/c, a Yamaha 2400 would be the minimum and it would have to be a newer a/c.
otherwise, a 3000w one should do all unless it's a 15k a/c.

You sure you are not trying to plug a 7 pin into a 6 hole are vice x versa.

If both of them are 7pin connectors it should work let us know what you find>

A 7-pin is different than a 7-blade connector. You may need one of these adapters if that is the case:
7-Way Blade to 7-Pin Adapter for Towing a Trailer with A 7-Pin Connector | etrailer.com

make sure the male/female ends are correct if you think you need one of these.
