TV mount

How do you mount a TV bracket to the black backboard in the rotating panel. The backboard seems like it only abut 1/4" and there is space behind it. The previous owner has nine holes drilled. How do re'enforce the bolts? Does this come apart in some manner?

Since this space is designed for a TV, there has to be a solution-I just don't know what.

Thanks
Linda

Linda,

Any chance you could post a photo of where you are trying to attach the bracket?

Things like 'black backboard,' 'rotating panels' and nine previous holes leave most of us wondering what it is exactly you (or someone previously) are trying to accomplish.

I googled your unit as a 2017? That kinda looks like our old unit. I would try to see if there is a backer? I assume you have decided there isn't? I would anchor a piece of wood to the paneling and then fasten the TV mount to that. There are many hollow anchors out there that will allow you to fasten.

I have Wildwood 2012 30KQBSS. There is a rotating section in the wall between bedroom and living room. The theory is so you can watch the TV the bed or the couch-swivel it around to viewing spot. The antennae , cable and DVD/radio connections are right below. The front is recessed aprox 5" with a black back board. The reverse side is wood grained to match divider wall.

When I stick a screw into the current holes, it just goes into dead space between recess backboard and the actual back of swivel unit.

Hollow wall anchors or toggle bolts might possibly hold the bracket.

I thought these were pretty interesting. There is an install tool that straightens them out to go in a 1/4" hole. These particular ones are for 1/8" panels, which there is no shortage of in these TTs. These came from Home Depot

I have the same rotating setup, I think.

But on mine the black board is on a solid black larger board... so I just put my screws into both boards. I sized the screws to ensure I reached the main board and used 6 screws to be sure it is secure.

what do you mean about a hollow space behind the board?

If nothing else, I would recommend using longer bolts with fender washers and go straight through. You would see the bolt/nut/washer on the backside, but if you paint them black it wouldn't look too bad.
