Vent design/location
The fresh water tank does not appear to be venting as I fill it. Air pressure builds up and blows back at the filler neck. I don't see a vent on the roof to check for dirt dobbers. Any suggestions?

The fresh water tank vent is usually a small screened opening in the fill neck fitting, or a small tube coming from the top of the tank hanging under the RV with a screen on it.
It won't be on the roof, and it could be missing the screen. If it's not in fill fitting, start by looking under the unit near where the water tank is.

Found it -- thanks!
It is a small screened opening beside the filler neck, built into the same fitting. Now to figure out why it is not venting as it does not appear to be blocked. Hmmmm

There have been reports of the tubing being kinked between the tank and vent screen.

Yes, that is the problem. Two kinks as it exits the tank (black hose in pic). Too close to trailer floor. It needs a 90 degree elbow if I can find one.

As much of this stuff as I see I'm still appalled at the shoddiness of this!

They had to have seen that when it was installed. I suppose they thought it would heal itself (or, more likely, that I would repair it for them as I'm about to do.)

I'm guessing that's under your trailer and accessed from the bottom?

Yes, underneath. I took the pic lying on my back, looking up. I think I can access it without dropping the tank. I hope so!

Issue repaired
I replaced the fitting with a 90 degree elbow and slightly rerouted the vent hose. Tank is now filling properly with a strong flow of air coming out the vent.
If anyone is interested the fitting is a nylon hose barb from Lowes, size 1/2 inch hose barb X 1/2 inch MIP.
After filling the tank I can see why some have had issues with it dropping out. Altnough I will rarely be traveling with a full tank I think I will research the threads on adding support straps.

Thank you very much for coming back and letting us know the fix. We appreciate you posting the pictures of the problem also. It helps people in the future greatly to be able to see what their problem may be.

Glad to do it. Due to the design I suspect there are others with this issue. Thanks for your help!
