Water pump cycling 171RBXL

I have a 2020 Wildwood 171RBXL that when I have the water pump on I can hear it cycle for about a second every 10 minutes or so. I’ve opened all of the panels that I can (the “non-removable” ones are now removable) and looked to see if I could see any puddles, drips, etc and don’t see anything. When we were hooked up to the campground water hydrant that had a back flow preventer it would squirt out the relief holes every 10 minutes or so too. Do I have a leak somewhere, if so how the heck do I find it?

Normally the water pump should hold pressure longer then that, however it sounds like you did everything you can easily do to make sure you dont have a leak. The pump burping once every 10 minutes would be an extremely small leak.

Best thing you can do it level your trailer, and let the pump on for hours/days and wait until you see water dripping out from under the trailer, then you can follow the water to locate the leak.

It's also possible the check valve is going bad in the water pump, very common in Shurflo pumps.

Given that its such a large gap between cycles and you have check most of your fitting for a leak I would lean toward a bad check valve.

You can replace the pump or add an extra check valve to the pump to see if that fixes it.

Could be the check valve inside the pump is allowing water to leak back into the fresh water tank. This reduces the system pressure and the pump brings up the pressure.

By using city water and having the pump OFF, which one should always do when using city water, monitor the water level in the freshwater tank. If it is increasing, this confirms the check valve in the pump is leaking allowing city water to backflow into the fresh water tank. This being the case, you won't find any puddles or drips.

It is easy to take the pump out, and apart and clean the inside of the pump mechanism. Don't mess with the motor end. Just the 6 or 8 screws on the plastic pump end. Repair parts are available from various sources. There is no need to replace the pump if you elect to repair it yourself.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up replacing the pump and it seems to have fixed the issue. I will probably get a rebuild kit, disassemble the old pump and keep it for a back up.
