wildwood 26tbss window blinds broken

I purchased a new Wildwood 26TBSS in January of this year. Overall it it a great RV and my family and I have a lot of fun camping this summer. One of the few problems that I've encountered is how cheaply made the venetian blinds are. After 10 trips this summer four of the seven blinds in the camper no longer operate. It's not that we were hard on them, but they are so cheaply made. The four that don't work all have a problem with the plastic screw gear boxes splitting open and do not open or close when the rod is turned. I have contacted the dealer and he said they will be replaced under warranty. My concern is that the replacements will be just as cheap and break in short order also. Has anyone experienced the same problem or has anyone found a more durable blind to replace them with?

We have the same TT purchased in August this year. We spent 2 weeks camping through Gros Morne, NL, and following that another week closer to home. During that time a fair bit of use with the blinds; no issue. Right now the TT is in our driveway where we are closing the blinds during the day to keep the heat down, again no issue. If I had to replace the home reno stores would be my choice; they can cut blinds to size, and have more options.

Ours are breaking too. Same way. Salem TT though, but I am sure that all Forest River campers use the same vendor for parts. Dont think I will be puttin the same cheapo blinds back on. Under warranty or not.

Had the same problem with the plastic gear box. Make sure that when you put the box back together, the long medal rod running horizontal with the top of the blind is pushed all the way in towards the gear box. We did that and now the blind opens and closes. Also, if the blind will not go up or down make sure the string is not binding next to the gear box (mine did).

I have a 26 tbss, it's less than a year old. We only used it about a total of 14 days and a couple of the blinds are broke. They are cheap junk! I plan to replace them with better ones myself.

I have a 2011 Wildwood 26BHXL. My wife is sick of how cheap the blinds are, and she wants to get the day/night shades like this: http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...t-shades/1869d

Anyone successfully replace their stock mini blinds with something like this?

Thanks in advance.

We just replaced one of our day/night shades and did it directly through Forest River. Much cheaper than Camping World. Contact Sheri Dunlap at sdunlap@forestriverinc.com. She was great to work with.

Thanks Pixy. One question, is your RV still under warranty? Mine just came off warranty in July.

We replaced our day night shades with 2"blinds and could not be happier, light is much easier to control and we feel the camper stays cooler in our hot oklahoma summers.
