2006 26DS electric problems

We just purchased a 2006 26DS camper and it did not come with an owners manual. This is our first time owning a camper. Does the batter need to be connected in order for the lights and everything to work when the camper is plugged into an electric outlet? Because nothing seems to work if the battery is not connected. How do we get everything to run off of 110, instead of running off the battery?

Hi nano,

Welcome to FRF and Congrats on your new camping trailer.

When plugged into shore power(30 amp, 120 volts) everything should work, even with the battery disconnected.
Have you checked to see if you've got power to the Converter(Power Distribution Box)?
All of the 110 volt breakers in the ON position.
Is there power to the 12 volt fuses?

Stupid question, I know, but do we need to use a tester to see if there's power to the convert? Or is there a handy little light that tells us? We did check the breakers and those were fine. We also discovered that the light above the kitchen sink doesn't work. Not sure if that's related to anything.

When we were looking at the camper, the sales guy had to jump the camper battery with another battery in order to get the slide out to work. He said it was because running the slide out off of the battery drains a lot of power, but I'm wondering if the battery is bad? Could that have affected the converter?

It was the converter. The place we bought it from replaced the converter and everything works great now.
