25brds water tank
So I'm researching for a new camper. I have seen a few posts about the water tanks falling out when hauling with water in them. I do a lot of bondocking so this is a issue i would be concerned with.
1. is this still an issue on new micro lites?
2. Is there a fix or something people do to reinforce them?
I really like this model and this is the first negative thing i have seen.
Thanks
Lonnie

Yeah I did a search and saw several different posts but was wondering if this is still a current issue on new models. The posts i found seem to be older.
Thanks

I have an early 2019 2509 (same trailer, different stickers). I've filled my water tank a a handful of times then drove 20 miles with no ill effects. I pulled the coroplast to inspect the full tank and didn't see anything that would be concerning.
Personally, I wouldn't tow far with it full because my truck is maxed out. If this isn't a concern, I think you'll be ok.

I called forest river to ask if the hitch weigh was calculated with a tank of water and the guy said no and dont drive far with it full either. Said if its needed to fill it as close to the campsite as possible and drain what's left before leaving. Makes sense as to why people are bracing their up. Water isnt always available close by.
Could always get a hand pump and somechlorine if a river or lake is close by and chlorinate your own water to make it safe.

If you like the rig and wonder about the tank you are not going to get the answer here or from FR I suspect, buy the rig brace the tank regardless of what is said and you are good to go boon docking or anywhere else. I braced my tank and don't even think about it.

This is making me rethink which camper I’m going with. I don’t know I like this camper but I camp a lot off grid and the drive in is usually long and bumpy. From the nearest water source.

NO dry hitch weight nor dry trailer weight includes water, batteries, options or any cargo. Dry weights are for a stripped-down version of the trailer. That's why real world hitch weights are far higher than the fictional dry number.

My Micro Lite was in the process of failing when I reinforced the supports with angle iron. While I don't know the cause of other people's failures, mine was because of an notch in the support at which point it failed. The support on the other side without a notch showed no signs of failure but that's not to say the supports should have been of a heaver gauge steel. My reply to the OP is if there's no notch in the support, you may be ok but I would like to know myself it FR permanently fixed the problem.

I contacted my sales person today and let her know about my concerns she was going to call the rep and ask. But all this information is helpful. I understand that all I have to do is add the extra supports but why should I have to on a new camper. It’s something I have to weigh in my decision.

I do agree with you that it adds to the decision but odds are you will have to add something to any camper you purchase as many of them need some kind of work....its just a matter of knowing what that something is. I got lucky and it was only little things like propane pigtails lights and a regulator.
They are not like cars where you should expect no issues and good dealer support.

25brds water tank
Well I went ahead and got one. We ended up doing the Rockwood 2509S. I’m very happy with it hopefully bring it home later this week. Thank you everyone for your input.

Will do this one seem to be a little tighter put together unit than the flagstaff we were looking at. I also love the color.

What model year? The mounting design was changed for 2020, possibly 2019.
From a Forest River rep I correspond with:
"... not only did we increase the gauge of steel used in the angle iron, we added another piece of angle iron. Before, there were only two pieces for support. Now there are three underneath."
That was in July 2019.

This is a 2020 Rockwood 2509S. I couldn’t see the tank supports since they were covered. I hope this is correct. I’m just going to keep an eye on it.

Changed when they went with the larger FW tank?
I have a 2019.5 model year when they added the larger freshwater tank, among other changes. I think that is when they changed the bracing for better support but can anyone else confirm that?
