2nd spare tire mount

I have looked at many posts about carrying a 2nd spare. None were very specific about model of trailer. I have a 2018 Flagstaff 2509s. We are planning a cross country trip in a few days and a friend offered me a second rear bumper mount. It's the same as the original design. Would it be ok to mount them side by side.

Probably not enough weight with the "spare spare" to make any towing differences so it seems OK to mount them side by side.

But what makes you think you need two (2) spare tires? I'm betting you have very common size tires on your trailer so even in the event of a complete blowout a replacement tire sill be easily purchased.

I've used my spare tire one time. Old tire blew (all of them since replaced) -- felt like I'd bee rear ended -- and the spare was actually older! But I didn't need a second spare.

To me a spare tire is just there to get me to the nearest tire store that can repair or sell me a new tire.

I might consider carrying a second spare if traveling to Alaska where the nearest tire service may not be all that close.

How many spares does one carry for the tow vehicle?

Gotta ask yourself…..what’s the Flagstaff bumper rated for as far as carrying weight?

I will be traveling for 11 days with only overnight stops. Can't afford to spend a day waiting for tire. Tire stores around home don't stock them. With two spares I can continue for a few days and call ahead to a tire store with out loosing all the reserved one night stops.

How do you find the weight rating on the bumper??

Never seen a "bumper weight rating." Doesn't mean there isn't one just that it's not a common rating. Positioning the carriers close to the area the bumper is welded to the frame will mitigate some flex.

I rigged my spare to sit on top of the bumper. Figure it removes any twisting forces.
