Adding 2nd battery

Hi all, We have a 2019 Flagstaff 5th wheel 529BH. Anyone added a second battery and daisy chained it to the first one? Or is this what you usually do anyway? This is our first camper. We have had horse trailers with LQ's up til now and that is what we did. We are looking at getting a solar package and want the extra juice.

Thx for any input

Yes, lots of folks add a second battery.
I have.

Some add a 2nd 12v battery wired in parallel, (your word daisy chained) some replace with two 6v wired in series.

A search will get you lots of reading as this topic is discussed regularly.

Yes, many do this if you dry camp or boondock a lot.
If you always have shore power, a single battery is fine.
If you add a second, it's recommended that it be an exact matching battery.
Many of us wait until the cheap dealer-installed 12v marine battery dies and then go to a two battery setup. A pair of 6v golf cart batteries are a popular more affordable option, than AGM or Lithium options.

Look at the diagram. I never heard of " daisy chain". There's only parallel or series when adding batteries. Example: two 12 volt batteries connected in parallel still produce 12 volts but expands your "time". Connecting two 12 volt batteries in series on your camper will produce 24 volts which would blow out your 12 volt system and ruin everything.Click image for larger version

Daisy Chain is an old term - and refers to hooking in Series - and as Wonder pointed out would be a very bad idea.
