Take it from recent experience, turn the disconnect off when not in use. In my Flagstaff, that means the key comes completely out. I had mistakenly left it engaged and it ran the battery to below 3volts, barely light an LED bulb. We were just heading out to a campground and had to stop and buy another battery. Advanced Auto Parts was kind enough to keep the drained one, which had only been used once, over the weekend to charge it and test it. It wound up being fine, but now I have 2 batteries, one is always ready, hooked up to a Battery Minder, in case I pull the same mistake again.
Otherwise, you leave the battery switch in the on position when plugged in.
