Cheap Awning Cover
Hey all,
Thought I'd share my solution to expensive Awning covers. Go to your local home improvement center and, for less than $20, pickup two 10 foot sections of vinyl roof gutters along with a gutter connector. Measure your awning and cut to length.

The vinyl rain gutter provides a compression type fit over the awning. In all the time ( I used one on a previous trailer as well) I have had this, it only blew-off once during a winter storm.
Also, keep in mind that I do not travel with the cover on. It is only used with the trailer parked in my driveway.

Good idea. One can also buy some pvc insulation covering and put that on.

It doesn't really 'attach/install'.
The open length of the PVC gutter simply 'snaps' onto the roller tube and merely sits there as protection. Again, NOT to be used when traveling but it is fairly tight as the gutter opening is slightly smaller than the roller tube. The lip of the gutter helps hold it onto the tube
You can also do the same thing with a split piece of PVC drain pipe.

What a great idea although I have to say our
Original awning lasted 8 years and I just replaced it with the same brand for $325.00. Plus the installation of $250.00 and I was very pleased. I am pretty sure I will not own this camper before it wears out. I could have installed it my self but sounded like a big hassle. For an extra $100.00 I could have added the sun Gard but what the heck. I don’t know about you but I didn’t retire to have to hassle with this kind of issue. Good camping.

Yeah, it's quite apparent you've never seen me try to open up a drain pipe like that. It would be more spiral than straight! [emoji1787]

I'm retired as well. We had our last trailer for over 9 years, and the awning lasted about 7 before I replaced it. I paid $215 for the fabric and installed it myself. Fortunately, installation was fairly easy.

Retired? What's that? [emoji1787] I retired after 35 1/2 years in law enforcement. Did the stay at home and work around the house thing for 2 years. DW didn't have a "honey-do list".... she had a spreadsheet broken down by rooms and what she wanted done in each room! I finally told her I was going back to work sitting on my butt because she was actually working me to death. Now, I collect a check from the State listening to those who are going to run our country some day. [emoji879]
