chocking the tires
Hi all, We just purchased a used 2020 Flagstaff 529RLKS 5th wheel. We have a Keystone Cougar travel trailer (that is our trade in). We use the X-Chock for chocking the Cougar but the Flagstaff doesn't seem to have enough space between the tires. What does everyone use on their Flagstaffs?
Thanks

There are two different models of X-Chocks; one of them is made for the narrower space between the tires. This is the one we have for our Flagstaff 21DS: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

As mentioned there are two sizes of X-Chocks. Regular and X-Tended for spread axles.
I use the narrower (regular) style on mine and even then, I have to crank them tightly closed with the wrench for them to fit it between the tires on our Flagstaff 8509IKBS.
BAL says it will retract to 1-3/8" (between tires) and I have just barely that but I can get it in.

While looking at the links provided this came up. This looks super easy. I have such a hard time using the wrench on these.

I also use the One Steps. I stopped using the x-chocks I had, didn't really add much if any stabilization and were a pain to install and remove.
Setting up the OneSteps takes a bit of experimentation to get the correct spread, but you only do that once.

I don’t have any experience with the One Step. I’m wondering how good of a job they do on soft ground or sand.

I have the One Step. I think if you were on really soft ground you might need a board under both sides depending on how long you're going to be set up. I have noticed them sink in a little bit when the camper is set up at home for fairly long stretches.

I've had mine in place where I store my trailer. Ground is mostly sand. Chocks have always seemed firmly in place come spring.
