cracking at furnace exterior

Has anyone experienced cracks at the furnace exterior vent on a 2016 8528IKWS?

that to me looks like a stress crack. I would stop drill the crack to keep them from traveling.

WOW! Interesting but a bummer.

The only things I could think of that might cause that are:
1. The furnace is somehow loose (not screwed down properly) and flexing/slamming against the intake/exhaust ports when traveling.
2. The furnace box 'typically' just slides onto the intake/exhaust ports for assembly/removal. If somehow the intake/exhaust ports have rusted fast to the furnace, expansion/contraction when the furnace runs/cools could be flexing the wall.
3. Something has hit/bumped the intake/exhaust.

All three are somewhat longshots but what is happening certainly isn't normal.

I would gain access to the furnace from inside and see if the furnace bottom is properly supported. If the furnace or the floor under it is not supported, it could be moving during travel and flexing the outer wall that it’s attached to.

Has this happen after you installed the bug screens? If yes might, it be restricting exhaust flow and metal is over expanding and stressing wall.

I have had the same bug screens installed on my 16 Surveyor for about a year after I purchased it new and I do not have any issues like what you have.

If you quote the post you are answering, the rest of us can follow along in your mind and know what you are referencing.

I checked out how it is help in place and found it to be solid. I did not find anything that would have cause this but since I haven't moved it the size has not increased. I guess drilling the crack to stop it may be the only option.
