Epro 19FD Powertron Battery

I have a 2022 Flagstaff Epro 19FD. It came with one Powertron 12V Deep Cycle Battery. There is no additional information on the label of the battery except a label on the top of the battery (D24DC-140). I have search for 2 days trying to find additional information about the battery. I am trying to find out how many AMP Hours the Powertron battery is rated for. I want to hook up another battery in parallel with my existing battery. I am thinking of going with an Interstate Battery SRM-24 with 81 AH - 140 RC - 690 MCA. The travel trailer is kept in offsite storage, can't have an RV in my community for HOA reasons. My plan is to run the refrigerator overnight prior to us leaving the next morning. I would like to have the refrigerator cooled down so we can load up the refrigerator before we leave. The refrigerator is a Magic Chef 4.3 CU FT. Model # WD-127FDC. I am hoping between the 2 batteries and 190 Watt Solar Panel, the battery discharge won't be more than 50%. At this time I am not interested in up grading the batteries until the original battery needs to be replaced.

I am hoping the Powertron Battery is similar in AH as the Interstate Battery.

Its important that your batteries are matched, both in type and age. Otherwise, the stronger battery will always be charging the weaker one and you won't realize the full benefit of the two in parallel.

Thank you. I didn’t even think about that.

One solution is to install a Battery Selector switch. For charging, set to BOTH. For normal operation, select 1 and when that gets discharged, select 2.

Here's what I used.

Towable batteries are dealer-installed items so you should contact the dealer you bought it from.
That battery is a cheap dual-purpose marine battery, the type most dealers install.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I guess I will have to buy 2 new group 24 batteries with the highest AH possible. I wish I had room for 27 or 31’s.

Thank you all

I would advise you to get at least a pair of 6v golf cart batteries in series.
Not much more than the 12v ones.
If you want to do a lot of boondocking, go lithium.

Your OEM battery is 140 minutes RC.
Google how to converter RC to AHs and it should be around half the RC. Probably near 81 AH.

If your original battery is less then a year old and in god shape, you can parallel a new one with it. That will give you 160 AH. An old battery rests at the same voltage as a new battery, test them. One will not try to charge the other.

A pair of GC-2 6 volt batteries will give you 200 to 230 AH.

Today, lithium is the answer, just need to see if your converter will charge it.

Get a 100 ah lithium
If you have a Solar charge controller that’s can be switched to lithium it will finish charging it
if your converter is not lithium capable it will charge it
but will just be slower

1 lithium holds same useable power as 2 lead acid
You can add a second lithium without worry about age etc
So if you want to expand it will be easier

You can buy. 100ah lifepo4 for under 200.00
It is so much easier to use and maintain

Loading…. Are you able to run an extension cord to the trailer while loading
If so you can run the battery charger converter
Which will power the fridge and charge batter at same time

Then you can go to a campsite and plug-in
———————

If you want to boondock for a weekend get 2 x 100ah batteries
That and your Solar should last you a weekend camping trip
No need to connect to campsite power
Opens up a lot of sites/places for you

Saving in campground fees will offset the cost to upgrade
