KW1 filter alternatives?

Are there any? These, like many items in current times, appear to be hard to come by.

Why would they not put regular cartridge filters in our units. Nevermind....I answered that last question.

Amazon has direct replacements for about half the price of the factory units. Work great and after cutting one of each, factory and amazon, they're pretty much identical.

Just search Amazon for "KW-1". The ones I but are made in S. Korea, not China.

Hannah RV also has replacements for good prices when you buy multi-packs.

As Mike mentioned there is a cheaper alternative cartridge on Amazon. The only other cheaper cartridge I've seen was the Neo-Pure that was on RVupgrades.com but it has been out of stock for a while.

Most everyone I know removes the FR-1/KW-1 and replaces it OUTSIDE of the R/V with a common water filter assembly for typically less money than what you can buy a replacement KW-1 cartridge for.

X2 and the added benefit of not having to worry about an onboard filter leak. I took ours completely out and joined the lines with PEX clamps. Easy..Breezy!

I have the external hose filter and will use that for the time being. I don't have pex gear at the house so I installed the indoor unit filter less for now. Did the dewinterize and sanitize of the water system today. All seems well and we will be ready to head out Friday for a short run to play some golf.

Thanks for the tips all.

Removed ours. Run an outside water filter instead
