Leveling and Slides

Hi all, Newby here - 2019 Flagstaff 529BH 5th Wheel

I have a question about putting the slides out. I'm assuming that the trailer has to be level. Is this true? My question is if you stop somewhere for the night just to sleep and take off again in the morning and don't unhook - can you or should you even put the slides out? Does it depend how level you are. Is there a degree of not being level that is acceptable and will not cause a problem with the slides? We can get by without putting the slides out but just wanted to know for my own info. TIA

Most manufacturers will say level first then deploy slides.
Some of that is a CYA statement and certainly there is 'some' truth to it.

As long as you are not on a severe twist (of the frame) when parked I have no hesitations opening/closing the slides. Look how many slides are open on the dealer lot with the R/Vs setting in every position imaginable.

I do try to level 1st and then deploy but I've also never been so out of level when camped for the night/rest area (remaining hooked-up) that I thought there'd be issues opening the slides. You'd likely roll out of bed if you were that unlevel!

Look around at a dealers lot, few are level, slides are out. Funny also they don’t cover them in winter months, just saying, not defending... my two cents, use fair judgment on level, and put um out.

Remeber three points won't have any twisting (tongue,, and each side of camper) just make sure you don't have a rock, root, hole, or anything else under one of you tires if you have tandem axle trailer.
