Made it to Florida in one piece-Trailer not so much!

I was doing fine at 65 m.p.h when all of a sudden we were hit on the left rear quarter and jolted and scared the dickens out of us,looked out the side view mirror and watched a minivan do the slip and slide across the I-75 on to the left shoulder, how he was,nt hit from the rear or side is beyond me.After he made it across to my side, right shoulder he admitted right away that he fell asleep,it was 10:15 in the morning Dec.26th.My poor fifth wheel is in need of major repairs, anyone know of a repair facility in Goshen Ind.I was thinking of bringing it there for the repairs come April since that was where it was made.Does the factory offer service repairs etc.Any insight on what I shoulClick image for larger version

The fellow in the van fell asleep and caught my left rear quarter...I am thinking of taking it to the factory in April for the repairs or to a factory supported facility in Goshen Indiana.Anyone have any suggestions where I should take it?

Bit far from home. If I may make a suggestion, trim off all loose material and fill the area with expanding construction foam, (Lowes, Home Depot) let set, trim excess and tape it up, just to keep out the weather until repairs can be done.

Not sure if this shop will work. I have used them for various work. Always honored appointment and completion dates. If I ever have collision repair this is where I am going. They are not an RV dealer. Their bread and butter is repair.

Glad your ok! Sorry about the camper.
Honestly, once insurance gets involved, your camper will probably total. The amount of work required to do a seamless repair would probably exceed the threshold of repair for a 2006 models value. You could always retain it and pay to have it fixed elsewhere.
I highly doubt any manufacturer would repair this at their factory. They dont have time or space. I would google search rv repair places close to where you live, if you do end up repairing.
Good luck op!!

Kind of a long way from OP's home area of Ontario though.
Looks like a great place for repairs if someone is close to them though!

That might make a difference!
Still a fairly extensive repair, as the aluminum wall frame is damaged and getting to it to remove and replace that area will require alot of side and rear wall outer panel r &r.
My insurance totaled my 10 month old camper from hail damage about 2.5 years ago, and it wasn't anything more than little cosmetic stuff.
Anyways, good luck!

There are a lot of different shops in Elkhart , you might call the factory and see who they would recommend . But first get ahold of the guys insurance and see what they want to do , you might be down there during a lot of Rv shows and find a new one to your liking

Especially if you find someone to fix it in FL and need a hotel and meals for a month or more~~~ why not take it home all fixed?

Where are you staying in Florida? There is a huge RV Show going on at the Tampa fairgrounds, Jan. 13-17. All the mfr's are there, and might be able to help you or find a shop for you.

For you If you cross at Sarnia it is not too far to go back to Elkhart to pick it up after repairs

If you are near South East Georgia and I-95 at exit 36B, I highly recommend Newcastle RV in Brunswick, Georgia. Twice they have done repairs on my TT from tire separation damage. Good honest folks to work with. Ask for Butch. Mike is the repair guy and he is first class.

I would get it repaired as soon as possible to keep the weather out identify any hidden damage. Depending on what part 9f Florida you are in, I would try General RV. I have been pleased with their work in Michigan and it is a family owned and managed business.
